His formal education includes a bachelor's degree in psychology and government. Prior to his career in real estate, his professional background included alternate energy developing, carpentry, teaching, private investigating, sailing, scuba diving, helicopter logging, ranching, water safety instructing and life guarding.

His personal interests included several athletic pursuits, ocean activities, fitness training, personal counseling and supporting and contributing to several non-profit organizations and ministries.
